Experience Kuopio on the ground, from the air, or from Lake Kallavesi!

For culture lovers
- Walk or grab a Vilkku city bike at the market square and visit the unique Finnish Orthodox Museum RIISA (approx. 5 to 15 min.) or explore the exhibitions at Kuopio Museum, located next to Snellmanninpuisto park.
- After your museum tour, you can jump on a Bike Taki or Vilkku city bike and cycle to Bellanranta (approx. 15 min.), where you can learn about the Lignell & Piispanen ‘from the woods to glass’ philosophy through stories and a factory tour.
- From Bellanranta, you can take a taxi (approx. 10 min.) and head over to Sawohouse’s summer terrace and enjoy one of the à la carte dishes on offer while you wait for a Garden Live summer concert to kick off.
- You can get back to the centre of town on the number 21 Vilkku bus or by ordering a charter taxi.
- Duration about 4 to 6 hours.
- Price of transportation approx. €46 / 2 ppl (the price depends on the selected modes of transport).
Fitness enthusiasts
- Explore Kuopio from Lake Kallavesi; let the M/S Princess Anne boat take you from Kuopio Port to Bellanranta. You can also get to Bellanranta from the market square on a Bike Taxi or a Vilkku city bike.
- At Bellanranta, you can find an 18-hole golf course, amongst other activities.
- From Bellanranta (bus stop Siikaranta P 1405), you can jump on the number 6 Vilkku bus to Puijo, one of Finland’s best-known landmarks. From the Puijo Ski Stadium, you can take the new spectacular scenic lift up into the clouds (June 16 to August 12 from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm) or get some exercise by climbing the stairs up onto the hill.
- At Puijo, you can explore the local nature paths, learn about the animals of Finland through the AR application, or jump from the Puijo ski jumping hills using a virtual reality headset. Why not also try some of Puijo’s restaurants.
- From Puijo, you can get back to the market square on the number 10 Vilkku bus, or you can enjoy the landscape while walking down to Kuopio’s market square Mualiman Napa.
- You can also do the tour the other way round, starting at Puijo and finishing at Bellanranta.
- Duration about 4 to 5 hours.
- Price of tour approx. €35 / 2 ppl (the price depends on the selected modes of transport).

Tastes of Kuopio
- Enjoy a generous hotel breakfast at Restaurant Utu at the Original Sokos Hotel Puijonsarvi and try out some local delicacies, such as the kalakukko fish pasty.
- You can reach the market square on foot or on a Bike Taxi. You will find great shopping opportunities in Kuopio market square and the surrounding area. Sample local delicacies and products at Finland’s most beautiful market hall, in the market square, Apaja shopping centre, or the Pikku Pietarin Torikuja market alley.
- Take a break from shopping and sit down for a coffee or lunch at one of the quaint cafés or lunch restaurants in the market square or the surrounding streets.
- Afterwards, you can head to Rauhalahti on the number 7 Vilkku bus, or hop on boat at the port to get to the Lumberjack Lodge, where you can take part in a traditional smoke sauna evening (Tuesdays and Thursdays), or enjoy a delicious dinner on the terrace of restaurant Kuopion Saana while marvelling at the spectacular lake views.
- Duration about 5 hours or all day with breaks.
- Price of transport approx. €30 / 2 ppl (the price depends on the selected modes of transport).
Child-friendly options
- Get the number 16 Vilkku bus to the Rauhalahti Animal Park, or the number 7 bus to the Rauhalahti Spa.
- Finish off your visit with a delicious ice cream on the terrace of the Rauhalahti Holiday Centre summer restaurant, then get on board the M/S Princess Anne boat (approx. 45 min.), and finally walk from the port to Väinölänniemi (approx. 5 min.).
- In the cool shade of Väinölänniemi’s palm trees, you can explore the local beach, engage in numerous water activities, as well as pop into the beach café offering different services.
- If you prefer exploring Puijo instead of the animal park, you should hop on the number 10 Vilkku bus to Puijo instead of the Rauhalahti bus. At Puijo, you can explore the Forest story trail (digital, approx. 400 m.), for example.
- At the ski jumping tower, you can take the scenic lift high up to the ski stadium (June 16 to August 12 from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm). From there, you can take the number 7 Vilkku bus back to the market square.
