Finland’s biggest comedy festival looking for international star

Finland’s biggest comedy festival seeks replacement for Jason Byrne

Finland’s biggest annual comedy festival in Kuopio (Kuopion Komediafestivaali 7.-9.6.2018) seeks replacement for Irish stand-up star Jason Byrne. Byrne was booked to the festival, but he had to cancel because of the urgent TV production. Now, the organizer of the festival is looking for an international comedian to replace Byrne.

– We made a deal with Jason for this summer’s gigs already last year – when he was here at festivals. We couldn’t guess that Jason would be able to participate in big TV production in Ireland this summer. I now have, of course, very busy schedule in finding replacement, but at the same time I’m also happy for Jason. Now we are looking for another international star for festivals and hoping that Jason will come to Kuopio again in the future, says the producer of the festivals, Juha Jylhäsalmi.

The schedule is tight

The comedy festival starts already in three weeks, so the event searches replacement very quickly. The search is on in all possible channels in Finland and internationally.

The festival is seeking high-quality comedian who can perform in English. The performer would have 3-4 gigs in Kuopio at the festivals. In addition to the gigs, festival offers nice encounters with other comedians in the festivals and of course, the magnificent surroundings in Kuopio, which is beautiful and active summer tourism city in the heart of Finnish Lakeland.

In addition to the gig fee, the event takes care of the performer’s travel expenses, accommodation and dining.
