The Finland Ice Marathon skating track in Kuopio opened to its full length, 12,5 km, on Monday 19 February 2018 and it’s open for everyone. However, there are restrictions on the track during the Finland Ice Marathon -event (21st-24th February).
At the starting point of the track there is a large tent that is available to all skaters in non-event times. On Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd the track is reserved for school children from 8am to 2pm, but after that the track is in public use. On Friday the track is reserved for cycling competition from 9am to 2pm. After that the ice track is maintained before the moonlight skate starting at 6pm, so skaters must be careful about the vehicles nearby.
– Finland Ice Marathon’s arrangements are brilliantly on schedule and some even ahead of time, says track master Kai Aho.
